Job Description: Part-Time Handyman (Independent Contractor)

Position: Part-Time Handyman

Type: 1099 Independent Contractor (Part-Time)

Pay: $25 -$30 per hour

Location: Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio area (and surrounding communities)

Hours: Variable / Flexible – as-needed basis (typically 15–25 hours per week, with potential for more as business grows and during busy periods)

 

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and trustworthy, part-time handyman to handle general maintenance, repairs, and small home improvement projects. This is a flexible 1099 contractor position perfect for someone who enjoys independent work. This role will be an essential part of managing the growth that Shields Handyman is experiencing. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of handyman tasks including (but not limited to): minor plumbing repairs and fixture replacement, electrical troubleshooting and fixture replacement (non-licensed work), drywall patching, painting, furniture assembly, door/window repairs, flooring repairs, light carpentry, and general home maintenance.
  • Diagnose issues quickly and complete jobs efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Keep work areas clean and leave properties in better condition than found.
  • Communicate clearly with property owners or managers about work performed and any follow-up needs.
  • Dialog with clients about their projects and advise them on solutions 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or in a similar role (at least 2+ years preferred).
  • Must own and use your own basic tools and have reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Honest, dependable, and respectful of clients’ homes and property.
  • Ability to work well with other employees and provide guidance and oversight when necessary 
  • Must carry your own liability insurance. Reimbursement for all or part of the cost may be available.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
